‘Baan Nong Sarn’ Community located at the Pupanmountain in Sakorn Nakorn Province

      ‘Baan Nong Sarn’ community is well known for the indigo dyed which is the charm of thecommunity. The Indigo-dyed fabric is the generation of knowledge of Nong Sarn community has stated from the ancestors inherited to the present. The Indigofera are planted by the people in the community and have a harvest season once a year. By the process, the small Indigofera leaves are bundled together by stems as ties and put them into the bins, adding water and using heavy stone press the color from the leaves during overnight soak. After that, removing the bundles and adding secret ingredients into the bins. It takes around three days in total of the process until the indigo water turn into golden yellow to begin dying. This is the only recipe of Nong Sarn community

      Nongsan community has a variety of techniques such as woven Mudmee, Mheekit, Lai Ta Koh, Lai keed as well as tie-dyeing techniques. The villagers created the story through the pattern on the fabric which are inspired by the nature or the surroundings. All the cloths are dyed from natural colors. The Nong Sarn villagers are proud to carry on this generation of knowledge of indigo dye into preservation.

     "Vtthai Social Enterprise" is one of the Thai handcraft’s distribution channels, supporting Thai handcraft along with community development. ‘VT THAI’ worked with ‘Local Alike’ to develop local products and promote ‘community-based tourism’. ‘Nong Sarn community is the prominent indigo communities well known for a variety of techniques such as woven Mudmee, Mheekit, Lai Ta Koh, Lai keed as well as tie-dyeing techniques. VT THAI works with the locals to develop the product design to match with today’s lifestyle as well as provide the fascinating product storytelling which be able to increase perceived product value and generate more income to the community. These are the pride of ‘Nong Sarn’ community that be able to develop local products as well as promote ‘community- based tourism’.
